I’ve got a bit of a life update to share in this episode!

I’ve been recovering from my bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction surgery over the last few weeks. I loved getting to stay with my bestie, Sheila, but I’m very glad to be back home now.

Something I’m asked often right now is how I’m doing; I usually say ‘I’m good’, but that sometimes seems to surprise those who are asking. I want to take the opportunity to redefine what good actually means because I’m betting it’s different from what you think.

In today’s episode, we’re redefining ‘I’m good’ and how feeling every emotion & healing deeply impacts you. So often, we think that feeling good means we’re never sad, worried, angry, etc., but that’s definitely not the case.

Personally, I feel better mentally and emotionally than I have in YEARS. I know this is because I’ve focused on my own healing and done the inner work that has allowed me to truly feel my feelings and regulate my nervous system.

I’ve worked with some incredible people who have supported me in this process (shoutout to Jada and Kelly)! I’ve also incorporated tools into my life, like consistent spiritual practice and the Safe and Sound Protocol, which has helped with regulating my nervous system.

Yes, I’m feeling it ALL. I’m learning to process and work through my emotions (instead of just venting them), and I’m asking honest questions when emotions come up for me.

Healing is never a one-and-done thing, and it’s not going to look the same for everyone. If you need some extra support on YOUR healing journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you!

In this episode, Redefining ‘I’m Good’ – Feeling Every Emotion & Healing Deeply, I cover:

  • What feeling good means to me now
  • The therapy and inner work I’ve done in recent years + how this has impacted me
  • My welcoming prayer + how this consistent spiritual practice has helped me
  • The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) + how this supports you in regulating your nervous system
  • Venting your emotions vs. actually processing your emotions
  • Asking honest questions in regards to your emotions

More about the Good Movement Draws Good Movement podcast:

In stockmanship (the art and science of handling cattle in a safe, effective, low-stress manner), we have this phrase . . . good movement draws good movement.

It’s this thing that happens when we ask a small group of cattle, maybe a cow, or a pair to move out in a certain direction and their movement draws the whole herd into moving in the same direction.

Good movement happens when we approach the cattle with a positive attitude, read and really listen to what they’re telling us, and communicate accordingly.

We don’t approach the aware, flighty cattle the same as we do the tame, docile cattle. We adjust ourselves, our energy, and approach, and communicate with each differently.

These adjustments help us effectively draw good movement from each, which then draws good movement from the herd. But it starts with us.

The same is true for humans. Good movement starts with us.

Welcome to Good Movement Draws Good Movement, the podcast where farmers, ranchers, and rural folks can grow relationally through awareness, understanding, and effective communication.

Hey, it’s me – T. I’m your host, and I, along with my guests, will be covering topics related to drawing good movement – things like self and social awareness, brain science, positive psychology, extending grace, and so much more.

We’ll share tools that can help you understand why you are the way you are, why others are the way they are, and how you can use that to step out of self-told lies with grace and compassion to draw good movement in conversations, relationships, and life in rural America.

Tune in every Tuesday and make sure to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode! Let’s go draw good movement!
