I’m so happy to have one of my dearest friends, Michaela Gasseling, on the podcast today!

Michaela is a writer, speaker, farm wife, mom to four kids, and loves all forms of movement. She grew up on a farm, but then moved to the city to pursue a career as an ultrasound technologist. She found success and loved her work, but knew something was missing too. Michaela eventually made the decision to stay at home to raise her kids, and while she has gone back to working 1 day/week doing ultrasound, you can usually find her living life on the farm in her cowgirl boots and running shoes.

Michaela is passionate about sharing her powerful story of suffering from emergency brain surgery, and how that’s dramatically impacted her life. In our conversation, we talk about the many trials and self-awareness that Michaela has faced along the way, and how she continues living a life of abundance. From having a surprise 4th baby (and pregnancy that was extremely difficult), to undergoing emergency brain surgery in order to remove a large brain tumor, only mere DAYS after delivering her baby, she’s definitely faced fear, anxiety, and more on her journey.

Michaela chose to lean into God and her faith during the most challenging time in her life, and since then, she’s found incredible peace and fulfillment in her communication, relationships, and career. Her story is incredibly impactful and uplifting, and if you’re looking to learn more about living a life of abundance, this episode will no doubt inspire you to do so!

Michaela Gasseling is a writer, speaker, farm wife, and mom to four kids. After growing up on a farm, she moved to the city to pursue a career as an ultrasound technologist. She found success, but knew something was missing, so she and her husband Matt returned to their roots, and on Matt’s grandparents’ homestead together they raise their beautiful kiddos, cattle and crops. Michaela is passionate about sharing her experience of how suffering, emergency brain surgery, recovery, and most importantly hope brought her to a life of unexpected abundance. Running the day and the farm has become second nature as she easily transitions between cowboy boots to her favorite running shoes, but will always kick them off for a good cup of coffee with a friend. It’s here in the everyday ordinary that she has become skilled at finding joy and wants to help others see that an abundant fulfilled life is waiting for you too.

More about the Good Movement Draws Good Movement podcast:

In stockmanship (the art and science of handling cattle in a safe, effective, low-stress manner), we have this phrase . . . good movement draws good movement.

It’s this thing that happens when we ask a small group of cattle, maybe a cow, or a pair to move out in a certain direction and their movement draws the whole herd into moving in the same direction.

Good movement happens when we approach the cattle with a positive attitude, read and really listen to what they’re telling us, and communicate accordingly.

We don’t approach the aware, flighty cattle the same as we do the tame, docile cattle. We adjust ourselves, our energy, and approach, and communicate with each differently.

These adjustments help us effectively draw good movement from each, which then draws good movement from the herd. But it starts with us.

The same is true for humans. Good movement starts with us.

Welcome to Good Movement Draws Good Movement, the podcast where farmers, ranchers, and rural folks can grow relationally through awareness, understanding, and effective communication.

Hey, it’s me – T. I’m your host, and I, along with my guests, will be covering topics related to drawing good movement – things like self and social awareness, brain science, positive psychology, extending grace, and so much more.

We’ll share tools that can help you understand why you are the way you are, why others are the way they are, and how you can use that to step out of self-told lies with grace and compassion to draw good movement in conversations, relationships, and life in rural America.

Tune in every Tuesday and make sure to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode! Let’s go draw good movement!
