I’m very excited to welcome my great friend, Kiah Twisselman Burchett, onto the podcast!

Kiah (better known as Coach Kiah), comes from a 6th generation cattle ranch in California; she considers herself a proud Kentuckifornian though, due to living in both Kentucky and California over the years. Kiah is an international motivational speaker and life coach with authenticity and an infectious energy unlike anyone else. She is passionate about empowering others to love themselves deeply, care for themselves better, and find joy in the messy and beautiful journey that is life. Kiah’s story began with a personal health journey that impacted people everywhere, and ultimately, led to the creation of her transformational ‘Coach Kiah’ brand that many know and love today.

More than anything, Kiah loves helping people pursue curiosity and authenticity in their own lives, instead of chasing after worldly notions that only lead to emptiness and unfulfillment. In today’s conversation, Kiah and I discuss what a ‘Quest for Joy’ looks like, and why she is on a mission to bring this concept out into the world. As human beings, we are constantly pursuing happiness, and believing that once we achieve ‘xyz’, we will experience joy, and all of our problems will be solved. Unfortunately, allowing ourselves to welcome, process, and truly feel joy is much more difficult, because we struggle with processing negative emotions, and this hinders us from being able to fully allow joy into our lives. While joy is an incredibly vulnerable emotion, we are making great strides with the current generations by actually ‘feeling our feelings’; we’re working through our emotions, instead of numbing out and thinking we must change or ‘water ourselves down’, in order to be worthy of others’ approval.

Practicing self-awareness and allowing ourselves the gift of healing can feel extremely hard in the moment. However, it does show us what is no longer serving us, and guides us back home to our true selves (something both Kiah and I have experienced). Kiah is an incredible human being with so much love and energy to share with the world; if you’re on your own quest for joy and are ready to (re) discover your authentic self again, this is the episode for you!!

Kiah Twisselman Burchett, better known as Coach Kiah, is a California cattle rancher turned international motivational speaker on a mission to empower others to love themselves deeper, care for themselves better, and find joy in this messy, beautiful journey of life. • What the Quest for Joy entails + why so many of us are seeking joy from things that still leave us feeling empty and unfulfilled

  • Why our inability to process negative emotions tends to hinder our ability to feel, process, and welcome joy

  • Kiah’s ever-evolving Quest for Joy journey + her commitment to authenticity and truly getting to know herself again

More about the Good Movement Draws Good Movement podcast:

In stockmanship (the art and science of handling cattle in a safe, effective, low-stress manner), we have this phrase . . . good movement draws good movement.

It’s this thing that happens when we ask a small group of cattle, maybe a cow, or a pair to move out in a certain direction and their movement draws the whole herd into moving in the same direction.

Good movement happens when we approach the cattle with a positive attitude, read and really listen to what they’re telling us, and communicate accordingly.

We don’t approach the aware, flighty cattle the same as we do the tame, docile cattle. We adjust ourselves, our energy, and approach, and communicate with each differently.

These adjustments help us effectively draw good movement from each, which then draws good movement from the herd. But it starts with us.

The same is true for humans. Good movement starts with us.

Welcome to Good Movement Draws Good Movement, the podcast where farmers, ranchers, and rural folks can grow relationally through awareness, understanding, and effective communication.

Hey, it’s me – T. I’m your host, and I, along with my guests, will be covering topics related to drawing good movement – things like self and social awareness, brain science, positive psychology, extending grace, and so much more.

We’ll share tools that can help you understand why you are the way you are, why others are the way they are, and how you can use that to step out of self-told lies with grace and compassion to draw good movement in conversations, relationships, and life in rural America.

Tune in every Tuesday and make sure to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode! Let’s go draw good movement!
