Today’s episode is inspired by some recent events (which is typically my MO here anyway) –  community and connection. I’ve heard (more times than I can count) the saying that is ‘it’s my burden to bear’ or ‘it’s my cross to carry’, when someone is struggling. Maybe you didn’t know this (or maybe it’s just a helpful reminder), but we are NOT meant to bear our crosses alone! We  literally need connection to help us along in life. 

In today’s episode, I talk about what it means to ‘team lift your life’, and the importance of connection and sharing struggles. We’re supposed to ‘team lift’ and help each other when life gets hard! My bestie Sheila (who was a guest in episode 40) and I first saw this on the box for our little Christmas tree we purchased together in college, and I’ll never forget it. I mean..if we’re supposed to support each other when lifting a 3 foot Christmas tree, we’re certainly meant to lift each other through the big AND little T traumas.

It’s inevitable that we’re going to experience challenges – we can’t make it through life without experiencing some ‘stuff’. You shouldn’t be worried about reaching out to your community and those you’re connected with – people want to know how they can help, and you’re not a burden by letting them in!

Please know that there ARE people who are willing to listen and lend a helping hand (however that looks for you), so you don’t have to bear your cross alone. And if you’re not sure you have someone like that in your life, I would be honored to help you ‘team lift’ whatever weight you’re bearing today.

In stockmanship (the art and science of handling cattle in a safe, effective, low-stress manner), we have this phrase . . . good movement draws good movement. 

It’s this thing that happens when we ask a small group of cattle, maybe a cow, or a pair to move out in a certain direction and their movement draws the whole herd into moving in the same direction.

Good movement happens when we approach the cattle with a positive attitude, read and really listen to what they’re telling us, and communicate accordingly. 

We don’t approach the aware, flighty cattle the same as we do the tame, docile cattle. We adjust ourselves, our energy, and approach, and communicate with each differently.

These adjustments help us effectively draw good movement from each, which then draws good movement from the herd. But it starts with us.

The same is true for humans. Good movement starts with us.
