Our bodies and nervous systems are really cool in Our bodies and nervous systems are really cool in that they keep us plugging away through trauma and trying times.

What can feel confusing though is what we start to feel once the threat has passed, once there’s some safety. I’m talking about my own experience on the cast-pod today.

Sometimes it feels like we want to wrap grief up n Sometimes it feels like we want to wrap grief up nice and neat and stow it away after as soon as possible.

But that’s not how grief works. There is no end or expiration date.

We might not bump into the pain as frequently as time passes, but it hurts just as bad when we do.

I’ve befriended grief over these past few years since my dad’s sudden passing. Me and grief - we’re close now. My aversion to grief has turned to welcoming and acceptance. And that doesn’t stop with my own grief.

If you are experiencing grief from these fires, or anything else life has thrown at you, I am here. My DMs are open. And I’m happy to sit with you and bear witness to your grief.

Slide text is an excerpt from ep. 129 of the Good Movement Draws Good Movement podcast. Listen at the link in my bio or anywhere you listen to podcasts.

This week on the cast-pod (recorded about 3 hours before the Ashby and Minor fires started), Tom and I are talking through the Morrill fire, what we witnessed, and concerns we have in the after.

Listen to ep. 129 at the link in my bio or anywhere you listen to podcasts.

PS - if you’re feeling the effects of these fires or other life events and know you need to talk to someone but aren’t sure where to start, my DMs are open and I can help you find someone.
